"Thanks," she said with a little smile, walking over to present him with the holo of Ben she'd managed to get before leaving for Fandom. "Meet your alternate universe grandson."

"He's pretty new, yeah," she said. "His name's Ben."

"Yeah, I can't believe I didn't assume that one myself," she said. "That's yours, by the way."

"It was overall a bad trip," she said honestly, not padding it by saying "rough." No, it was just bad.

Jaina took a seat, deciding to go the bluntly honest route. "To start, we lost the Jedi academy and I hate our Chief of State."

"A Vong sympathizer group decided to take advantage of the fact that all but three of the fully trained Jedi were at this meeting. They went after the academy in order to hand the trainees over to the Vong," she explained, and no, she wasn't any calmer when talking about Fey'lya and his part in this. "Anakin went off to warn them, and got them all evacuated, but when we went to Fey'lya to ask for aid, he refused. We got Booster Terrik and his Star Destroyer to Yavin in order to help get everyone out, but if we hadn't done that... We lost one Master, one student got captured, and there's no going back to the temple."

Oh, good, so Jaina wasn't alone on this. "It gets better," she promised, jaw still feeling tight with the effort of not clenching it. "Anakin went to Yavin 4 against Uncle Luke's orders. He used that as one of the reasons he wouldn't help. It didn't matter that anyone died, it didn't matter that Tahiri was tortured at the hands of the Vong, it didn't matter that Anakin was able to find out things about them, or the fact that Uncle Luke didn't organize any of this, when it was all over, it didn't stop Fey'lya from trying to have Luke and Mara arrested forit."

"Yeah," she nodded. "They were out of the city somewhere and someone tipped them off, or they would have walked right into it. By the time I got there, the Rogues had been called in against them, but Gavin let them go."

"If given the order, he would have had to do it," Jaina said. "You know how chain of command goes. But thanks to that, they were able to get to safety and Uncle Luke sent me on my own mission."

Which she didn't want to talk about and knew she had to, and ooh would his reaction be interesting.

"The meeting took a couple days, but the second was kind of a wash. Part of it was because Anakin had already taken off, part of it was because Kyp- I know I've told you about Kyp- had said everything he wanted to say the first day and stomped off midway through when he'd done as much damage to Luke's argument as he'd wanted."

Yep, still bitter.

"I was supposed to find Kyp using a beacon placed on his ship, try to play peacemaker and see if I couldn't bring him back into the fold. Because after what happened at Yavin and Uncle Luke being forced to go underground, there wasn't really a choice but to try to bring the Jedi back together."

"Of course. He even managed to try and twist Uncle Luke's own history against him, things like the war against the Empire," she said with an eyeroll. "Kyp wants to take a more active, aggressive approach to the Vong, strike back when they strike at us. People are getting tired of sitting back and doing nothing, and so they like what Kyp has to say, and he says it well."

And there was a slight pause as Jaina admitted, "And I'm still not sure I entirely disagree with him."

Reluctantly- very reluctantly- Jaina nodded. "If we'd waited to do anything about Yavin like he'd suggested, we would have lost everyone at the academy. Three Masters wouldn't have been able to protect the trainees and themselves against a surprise invasion like that. They got out because Anakin acted on his own against orders. We went through proper channels and all we did was waste time. We can't just keep reacting all the time."

And while she still felt a little guilty about vocally disagreeing with Luke, the fact that Anakin could guess meant she could at least admit it.
