Skywalker Apartment [Some ungodly time at night, Monday]
Rory and Juliet had been released from the hospital today (and the ridiculous plastic bands to make sure no one was going to steal their daughter had been left behind. Anakin was still annoyed that those existed), and the afternoon had been a bustle of getting Lorelai settled on the sofa, the baby settled in her room, and getting Rory to nap at all.
And that was when it dawned on Anakin that a lot of people (like, all of them) didn't know that Juliet was here.
Ergo, email. Hopefully no one was on dial-up--Anakin had gone a little nuts on photos.

Just a quick note to let you all know that Lorelai Juliet Skywalker arrived very early on Saturday morning (June 13, 2009, for those of you not necessarily on our timeline). She's perfect, as is her mother, and both are home from the hospital and catching up on some well-deserved sleep.

PS: Someone make sure Angel reads this, please? Force knows he won't check his email.

But he was unable to ignore a baby Juliet. A new Juliet felt like new hope, in some crazy, poetry-addled way. Every baby deserved as much.

Master Skywalker -
She is a lovely girl, and she has a beautiful name. Congratulations to you and Mrs. Skywalker, and I wish for your Juliet to have a beautiful life.

Well. We can always hope she ends up with your hair. And less Winston Churchill looking.

SHE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE WINSTON CHURCHILL.

and neither do I.

She is gorgeous! Tell Rory I love her and I'll call her in a week or so, once she's had some time to sleep and settle in. Congratulations.
Abby says we wero;cnmwefilycbf43. I think that means "we'll play together at homecoming" in Baby.

Dude, I'd be lying if I said I was surprised the two of you could turn out such a great-looking kid. At least, I'm pretty sure she will be.
Congrats to both of you, and give Rory a hug for me? I've been asking that a lot lately, I know.
If someone here doesn't get to it first, I'll make sure Angel gets the message, promise.

P.S. I know Rory said I could babysit, but I'm not so sure that's a great idea . . .

She's just not allowed to date rogues, assassins, pirates, or idiots. Given the general mix that comes through Fandom, I think chances are pretty good that she'll be single until she's 30.

Well, that narrows it down a lot. See how unsurprised I am that you'd set high standards?

And again, kinda not surprised.
I totally get why, too. Not sure why I get it, but I do.

Anakin and Rory,
You both have my most heartfelt congratulations. Juliet is as beautiful as her mother.

Alex is as brilliant as his mother. He chose well which parent to take after. He seems to change every day. It's rather astonishing.

Saying that I'm looking forward to it doesn't quite convey the amount of terror I'm also feeling in the numerous ways I could warp her, but she looks just like Rory (though Rory, of course, disagrees), and I have no doubt she will grow up to be equally ingenious.

PS: Did yours come with a hat too?

From: [email protected]
I must say that I find this time before he begins to talk and seems to be pleased by being held most of the time rather reassuring. Perhaps one can't destroy them too badly before they start to talk.
He did! I did not know babies come with hats, and yet there it was.

Rory's mother wanted one as well. I think I got lucky that I didn't leave the hospital wearing some horrifying form of headwear.

Why do I think you'll be wearing more ridiculous hats before your daughter's fully grown?

Because when it comes to this tiny bundle of blankets, I'm a complete sucker?

Thank you. I'm looking into importing a nanny droid from home--I don't suppose you'd have any interest in one as well?
--A.
no subject
From: [email protected]
That depends on what a nanny droid does, and whether or not it will break and try to kill us all.
John and I have been watching movies about a robot uprising. It seems like a valid question.

...it *better* not. It has multiple limbs, but is covered in simulated flesh so the baby's not being cuddled by something metallic. It can also mimic voices and scents.
Oh, and it's heavily armed.

Oh, I approve of the heavily armed part very much. I'll have to show that attachment to John and see what he thinks. Then I'll decide if I like his answer, and I'll let you know.

He does have a fondness for strong protection, although I think he prefers the well-armored baby carrier he's already got. It couldn't hurt to ask though, just in case.

Anakin,
She's beautiful, as if there were any doubt. Feel free to stop by my office anytime if you need coffee, there is always a pot on. Please pass my well wishes on to Rory and let me know when you are all up for visitors, I would love to stop by.

We're working with a fairly full house right now (Rory's mom came down to give us a hand, too), but I might try to sneak Juliet to the school in a few weeks when she's not quite as tiny.

Subject: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Baby! Cute baby! They're everywhere now! It's like an invasion except not so much in Fandom specifically and what would babies invade for anyway? More to the point, how? Especially the little ones who aren't yet self-mobile. Then again their cute gets them far. Alex in particular gets to go from room to room on the power of cute alone, by which I mean people carry him and go "Awww" a lot. They do not get to carry him into invasions no matter how much his daddy wants to get him a sword. I have nothing against knighthood but Alex at least needs to sit up on his own before being given pointy objects in a world that has not yet heard of Nerf.
Rory, when you are better and less in the OH MY GOD HUMAN CAME OUT OF ME AND NOW I PROVIDE FOOD LIKE SOME KIND OF WALKING FRIDGE stage we should talk about forming a play group! Fandom's next generation needs peers. Plus this way we have tea and can dress the babies in cute outfits and pretend it's about parenting.
Bye!

...how much coffee did you have today?
--A.
PS: Miss you.

From: Willow
None! Only tea. Which does have caffiene but Alex is half British so tea is necessary for his health and well-being even if it is by proxy via a method that I won't go into more detail about since wow uncomfortable and awkward conversation. But my point is that it's not like the other no-nos that you're supposed to avoid when dealing with babies like alcohol or chainsaw juggling and frankly I don't want to do anything that's going to make Alex want to tut and go "Oh dear" much though that would be incredibly adorable if shocking since he's not supposed to be able to talk yet. Also he doesn't have glasses to polish so he might sprain something thanks to thwarted polishing desires. He's too little for this sort of thing! It's so much pressure for him to figure out that his hands and feet belong to him and aren't hand and/or feet shaped creatures that like to hang really close by just because he's cute and smells like baby powder.
Miss you too! Say hi to Rory and Juliet for me! Make sure to tell Rory about my playgroup idea!
